The Cederberg Circle: a C7 Wine Club Success Story

Every legendary brand begins with a dream, but in an ever-changing digital landscape, the challenge lies in how that dream reaches the world. For Cederberg Wines, that journey took a transformative turn in 2020. Recognizing the need for a modern approach to brand development, wine personality David Nieuwoudt implemented Commerce7 software with a clear vision: to create an online wine store and club capable of reaching customer communities spread throughout South Africa.

The result was the launch of the Cederberg Circle, a wine experience designed to move beyond the standard discount models of the past. Instead of focusing on free tastings, the Circle offers members an immersive connection to the Cederberg Mountains, delivering curated, seasonal selections—crisp whites for summer and velvety reds for winter—directly to their doorsteps four times a year.

Since its inception, the club has experienced remarkable growth, expanding from 65 founding members to more than 800 today. By leveraging Commerce7’s flexible digital tools, Cederberg Wines has successfully bridged the gap between raw, authentic winemaking and the modern consumer. This success proves that while wine is timeless, the routes to reaching customers must constantly evolve.
